Jalyn has extensive training in ballet and places emphasis on strong technique.
She found her love for the classics with Tuzer Ballet Company, where she danced many lead roles and pas de deux during her 5 years as a member. Some of her favorite classics in which she has performed as a soloist are La Bayadere, Giselle, Carmina Burana, Les Sylphides, Raymonda and her many performances of the Nutcracker. She studied a rigorous ballet and rehearsal schedule at the Tuzer Dance Center, under the direction of Tanju Tuzer and Pat Tuzer. At Ballet Academy of Texas, Jalyn studied with Lisa Slagle and Tom Nicholson.
Ballet summer intensives provided Jalyn additional training with talented teachers. She attended School of American Ballet in NYC, Jillana at Dance Aspen, American Ballet Theater in NYC, Joffery in NYC some with scholarships.
Jalyn attended University of Utah, on a ballet scholarship, Ballet Major – performance emphasis. She also received the prestigious roll of Carmen in the spring performance of Carmen.
As a member of Collin County Ballet Theater, under the direction of Kirt and Linda Hathaway, Jalyn danced principle roles and pas de deux in Nutcracker and Cinderella.
She has taught at several studios in the metroplex, sharing her love of ballet with many students. She has found additional joy in teaching and choreography. Her students have won many awards, as well as her choreography at dance competitions including JUMP, Primetime, and Dance Showcase. Taking students to Youth American Grand Prix this past year was especially exciting and rewarding. One of her students received first overall in the pre-competitive division.
Jalyn has studied with many renowned teachers: Marie Theresa Balone, Paul Mejia, David Wilson, Fernando Bujones, Mary Ann Walls, Cornelius Carter, Bruce Woods, Diana Cartier Rapp, Jacques Cesbron, Christine Spizzo, Li Chou Cheng, Tumkovsky, Diane Diefenderfer, Anna Donavan, Keith Duncan, Michael Vernon, Jillana, Ware, Kramarevsky and Rebecca Wright.
Her studies and performance background bring a wide range of ballet styles to her students.
Jalyn is excited to be returning to Artistry in Motion for her 5th year as Co-Director of the Ballet Company where she will be teaching ballet and pointe. Jalyn is excited to be in her 6th year as Ballet Director at Artistry In Motion Performing Arts Center where she teaches ballet and pointe. She is honored to be producing and staging the 2nd annual Ballet Spring Show.
