Susan Hurst was classically trained in England from the age of three and is an Associate of The Royal Academy of Dancing and The Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing. She appeared professionally on stage for over 10 years appearing in numerous musical productions before devoting her life to teaching and choreographing. Teaching classical ballet, pointe, tap, jazz and lyrical in both England and Texas for over 30 years and owning a highly successful studio here in Texas for 13 years, training many students who went on to dance in college and beyond, has made Sue a well-known and respected teacher in the Metroplex.
Sue has choreographed the ballets Swan Lake, Sleeping Beauty, The Nutcracker, Romeo & Juliet and Coppelia, and such musicals as Oklahoma!, Carousel, My Fair Lady, Sweet Charity, The Pajama Game, Seussical, and Cats. TV credits include Walker, Texas Ranger.
Adding to that, Sue helped choreograph and perform in The Weaving, an original dance/drama which was produced in New York City’s Lincoln Center, June 2010. Most recently choreographed and directed Sleeping Beauty for Studio A Dance, June 2012 featuring guest artists from Sarasota Ballet, Oklahoma City Ballet and TCU Ballet.
She is the choreographer for the Stars Theater Company, a local children’s theatre group in Bedford since 2008 and was also a dance team sponsor of the Stars Dance Team at Colleyville Middle School where she also teaches. Currently, she teaches classical ballet and pointe at Artistry in Motion Performing Arts Center in North Richland Hills and Heart & Soul Dance in Euless.
Sue is always looking forward to continuing to pass on her knowledge and love of dance to students of all ages and abilities.
